RTD is committed to the betterment of the community it serves, and the improvement of the unique environment around us. We are recognized by our community partners and transit industry peers for taking a proactive lead in the adoption of new technologies that reduce emissions while reducing costs.

RTD’s most visible implementations of new technology are its use of zero-emission, battery electric buses and its clean, quiet, and efficient diesel-electric hybrid buses on the Stockton Metro and Intercity fleets, and exclusively on Metro Express, RTD’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route.

Environmental Sustainability Management System

RTD is developing an Environmental Sustainability Management System to be one of a select few public transit agencies in the nation to become certified with the International Standards Organization ISO 14001 principles. These principles provide a framework for managing environmental sustainability that intersects San Joaquin RTD’s strategic goals and initiatives.

San Joaquin RTD has been recognized for playing an active role in improving the environment in San Joaquin County and for its community partnerships.
