Spreading the love of reading and literacy, RTD has installed book crates on Stockton’s public transit buses. These crates are filled with age-appropriate books for our young customers to enjoy. Children can take the books home and bring that book (or another in its place) back with them the next time they ride. In addition, our customers can return their books at the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Library, a primary partner in the Books on Buses initiative.
What is it?
Books on Buses is an RTD initiative to spread literacy throughout San Joaquin County. These books are available to everyone and should be returned for other riders to enjoy.
Why should I help?
Help foster education and literacy by spreading the love of reading in our community. Reading develops the mind, allows us to discover new things, and is a vital skill in today’s society.
How can I help?
Drop off new or gently used books at any of our Books on Buses book crates on select buses or at the Downtown Transit Center.
