San Joaquin Regional Transit District (RTD), the regional transit provider for San Joaquin County, provides public transit services in the Stockton Metropolitan Area (SMA), as well as intercity, interregional, and rural transit services countywide.
RTD, as your total mobility manager, offers paratransit services to persons who, due to their disability, are unable to perform the skills necessary to use RTD’s fixed route service.
SMA Dial-A-Ride (DAR) and Hopper deviations are a curb-to-curb service operating within the Stockton Metropolitan Area. This service is available seven days a week by reservations only where and when the fixed route service operates.
Persons interested in SMA DAR or Hopper deviation service must obtain certification under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) through an in-person application process.
How To Ride:
- Arrive at your stop 5 minutes in advance and have your fare ready.
- Fares for the Rural Connection are the same as RTD’s regular services:
- Adult 1-Ride $1.50, Discount 1-Ride $0.75
ADA Deviation Procedures (accommodated based on availability):
DEVIATIONS: Metro Hopper will deviate up to
one mile to pick up and drop off ADA-certified
passengers. County Hopper will deviate up to ¾ of a mile. Deviations are $1.00 per deviation, max of 2 deviations per passenger.
Dial-A-Ride and Deviation Reservations:
RESERVATIONS: Reservations must be made 1 to 2 days in advance. Reservations can be booked seven days a week, from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. To make a reservation, call: (209) 955-8400.
