Green. San Joaquin RTD

RTD is committed to the betterment of the community it serves, and the improvement of the unique environment around us. We are recognized by our community partners and transit industry peers for taking a proactive lead in the adoption of new technologies that reduce emissions while reducing costs.

RTD's most visible implementation of new technology is its use clean, quiet, and efficient diesel-electric hybrid buses on the Stockton Metro and Intercity fleets, and exclusively on Metro Express, RTD's first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route.

Celebrate 40 Years of Earth Day
RTD celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day by participating in two local events:

RTD will join Caltrans and Commute Connection in hosting booths at the San Joaquin Delta College Earth Day event on Thursday, April 22. While there, staff will provide information on RTD's green initiatives including hybrid buses and solicit students' stories on how they use public transit to reduce their carbon footprint.

RTD will also participate in the Earth Day event at Victory Park on Sunday, April 18, by staffing an information booth and displaying its first hybrid bus, which RTD rolled out nearly 6 years ago and is still in service today.

In addition, RTD is supporting the American Public Transportation Association (APTA)'s "i am E" campaign. Showing the "E" sign demonstrates commitment to preserving and protecting our earth's precious resources by using public transportation.
